Distance Carried
Documentary (In Progress)

Distance Carried follows Manitoba-based endurance cyclist Mady Kennedy as she undertakes a 45-day ride across Canada, driven by her mother’s cancer diagnosis and a desire to transform personal experience into national impact. Along the way, the project weaves together themes of caregiving, advocacy, and generational resilience — including the legacy of her uncle, Sheldon Kennedy, whose own cross-country journey reshaped public dialogue decades earlier.

Blending intimate observation with sweeping geography, Distance Carried is a story about what we choose to carry — and how endurance can become a form of care in itself. The project also aims to provide a deeper look at caregiving across the nation, and the many forms in which the role can be adopted.

Produced by Greenlight Film Co. and directed by David MacDonald with DOP Vincent Tang, Distance Carried is set to begin principal photography in May, embedded with Mady and her team providing intimate access as the story unfolds in real time.

We are thrilled to formally announce the Canadian Cancer Society as a Project Partner!
